home > india vacation rajasthan detail
Rajsthan is the most colorful region in India where legends of heroism and romance still echoes from its royal fort and palaces that stands majestically on hilltop to narrate the tale of a chivalry and audacity. The magic of Rajasthan is unmatched in the world for its rich heritage, colorful culture, great wildlife, invincible forts, magnificent palaces, waves of sand dunes and serene lakes. Everything here is breathtakingly beautiful, impressive and fascinating; exhibiting splendor and royalty. All this makes Rajasthan the most visited state of India.

Jaipur
One of India's hottest (most beautiful) tourist destinations is located 130 miles west of Delhi is Jaipur. Camel trekking is the best way to experience the desert and camel safaris can be arranged from a few hours to a few days. In places like Jaisalmer and Pushkar, which are close to the golden sands of the vast Thar Desert. The camel is the only means of transportation in the remote areas of the desert and trekkers will enjoy the peace and quiet under vast star-lit skies.

Amer Fort
One of the most magnificent destinations in Jaipur, on the rugged hills outside of town sits Amer Fort. It is an example of fascinating Rajput architecture built in red sandstone and white marble. The highlight of the fort is the Seesh Mahal (mirror Palace), a palace known for its craftsmanship in mirrors. Amber is the classic romantic Rajasthanfort palace. It was built by Raja Man Singh in 1600 AD and completed by Sawai Jai Singh in the 18th century.

Hawa Mahal
Built in 1799, by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh the 'Hawa Mahal', Palace of the Wind, is one of the major landmarks of Jaipur. This five storey building of unusual architecture designed by Lal Chand Usta, is a stunning example of Rajput artistry made of red and pink sandstone, beautifully outlined with white borders and motif's painted with quick lime. The monument has a spectacular view of the city and the colourful bazaars that surround it.

Jaigarh Fort
Of Jaipur's three forts, Jaigarh Fort is perhaps the most enchanting and forbearing. Jaigarh gives a panoramic view of Jaipur and Amber and served as a hard-core fortress. Jaigarh (`Victory Fort') was built between the 15th and the 18th century, and stands 10 mile from Jaipur, thorn-scrub covered hills, its forbidding stone ramparts visible from Jaipur itself. A steep road goes up to the main gate, the Dungar Darwaza, from where the view is spell bounding.
